Following the release of 2011′s critically acclaimedWeather, Meshell Ndegeocello announces the release of her 10th studio album,Pour une âme souveraine(“For a sovereign soul”), a dedication to fellow musician Nina Simone. Guests on the album include Sinead O’Connor, Lizz Wright, Valerie June and others. To celebrate the release of the album, Meshell is sharing the iconic track “Be My Husband,” which just premiered on NPR. Flush with stomps, claps and chants, Meshell is accompanied on vocals by New York singer- songwriter Valerie June. Comprised of a mix of traditional classics (“Feelin’ Good”), songs written by Nina Simone (“Real Real”), or for her (“To Be Young, Gifted and Black” by Weldon Irvine), the album represents a full spectrum of Nina Simone’s work and life. From the pulsing of the traditional ballad “House Of The Rising Sun,” the velvety, soul filled vocals of “Feeling Good,” and a bluegrass duet with Sinead O’Connor in “Don’t Take All Night,” Meshell Ndegeocello gives a subtle spin to the tracks off thePour une âme souveraine. She also performed a duet with John Cougar Melloncamp - "Wild Nights Are Calling".

PICNIC MEET & GREET
The best part of attending a concert at the beach is the picnic. This is where you'll make new friends and say "Hi" to old ones. A great way to meet someone is to offer them something! So... bring something to share! Either some libations/CUPS (be discrete--$250+ fine) or finger eats such as charcuterie, salami, cheeses, fresh produce such as grapes, dried fruits such as dates or nuts, olives, bread--foods that are easy to eat without utensils. Don't forget water & your own dinner. Bring low-back beach chair, not a tall awn chair. The idea is to be eye level with your new friends & to see the large beach screen. Bring jacket, flashlight, large trash bags, No pets. NO SMOKING PLEASE. 21+, no under age drinking.
