ABOUT THE PARADE AND CONTEST
The parade winds its way along the trolley tracks on the Farmers Market Plaza, features dozens of costumed pets competing to be King & Queen of Mutti Gras in several categories. (While the contestants are mostly dogs, the parade has also featured a few cats, a rabbit and a turtle.) Led by a New Orleans style parade band and the Market’s official Mardi Gras jester, the parade precedes the contest in which the crowd selects winners categorized by size. Each winning King & Queen is crowned and awarded a gift basket.
