Big Lucky, Los Angeles's premiere swing band, makes an appearance at the Farmer's Market. We'll enjoy Happy Hour at EB's Beer & Wine Bar. And yes, there will be dancing! It's ok to come by yourself--you won't be by yourself for long!
Big Lucky is fronted by meow meow diva Val Peterson, bandleader Paul Frederick is arranger & saxophonist, and the band is filled out with some of the finest touring and studio musicians in Los Angeles. The band specializes in the toe-tapping sounds of the prohibition era: they take you back to the time when hip was hep, and swing was king. Big Lucky's first album is entitledThe Venture Capital Follies of 1929. Critiques of the album praised it’s attention to detail, superlative sound quality and excellent musicianship. It’s release led to gigs for Big Lucky at venues such as the landmark Biltmore hotel in downtown LA, as well as a guest appearance on the hit HBO show Entourage. Big Lucky is currently recording a new album, Around the World with Big Lucky. The album blends European, folk, and gypsy elements with Mancini-esque orchestrations to transport us on a musical journey straight into a world of martini chic. Bandleader Paul is a member of LAFC.
The West Patio of the Original Farmers Market, where EB's Beer & Wine Bar is located, is frequently lauded as the best place for free live music in Los Angeles, and has the most varied, affordable beer and wine list imaginable. Happy Hour is from 4 to 7.
