Orchestre Surreal plays music from "The Nightmare Before Christmas"

Merry mayhem sweeps the WinterStage as Elvis Schoenberg's Orchestre Surréal presents their unique interpretation of the holiday classic "The Nightmare before Christmas." Known for their masterful ability to twist, translate, and ultimately transform classic standards into kinetic grab-bags of crafty camp creations, this L.A.-based group of studio musicians will offer the eclectic crew a platform upon which to showcase their explosive homage to Elfman’s classic score.

Thank you all for coming to this event. It was a great turnout. The narrator was funny and entertaining, telling the story as it led into the next scene with the corresponding songs from the movie. The costumes and makeup were extravagant and highlighted the uniqueness that is "Nightmare" in true form. The performers had huge range, it sounded perfect! Beautiful backdrop decor. Grand Performances, thank you for making this happen!

This is the best (all-day) downtown parking deal: $6 on Fridays. Park right below Bunker Hill and take Angel's Flight up to California Plaza for .50 cents, or if you're looking for excerise, you can trek up the stairs.

So are you having all Meetup attendees gather at Starbucks first, or are most just going to the area where the performance is located? (Sorry I don't know the area so not sure where to park).

Well, the concert begins at 12, so that doesn't leave much time for mingling. I'd suggest moving the time up to say 11:30 and meeting at the Starbucks. A picnic might be a bit ambitious. It would also make it easier to sit together.

    November 28, 2012

    • Sierra

Was thinking just a little snack type items... something warm during the concert. But meeting up at 11:30 (for those who can) does sound like a good idea.

This sounds fantastic! It's it will probably be cold anyone up for a little hot picnic? I can bring coffee or tea.
