Louisiana Drupal Users Group Meetup

We are postponing May's meetup from May 3 to May 10 due to the conflict with Jazz Fest. We'll finalize the location for the meetup by Monday. Our apologies for the short notice on this schedule change.

We have meeting Room 2 reserved for Thursday. Come out and meet the Drupal community. If there is a subject you would like discussed let us know. I have been working with the Commerce Module for Drupal 7 and can give an overview of Products and Display Nodes.

Thursday is our next meeting, we are open to suggestions on a location. Loyola is ending their semester and I am working on getting the meeting room for the Summer. We can do a social meeting at a local bar/restaurant. Let us know...chime in!

I just joined and RSVP'd yes, for the May 3rd meeting but can easily attend later in the month as well. Looking forward to meeting the Drupal Community here in NOLA and greater Louisiana.

Wanted to survey the group: We are considering postponing Thursday's meetup until next week due to the conflict with Jazz Fest which might keep a few folks away. Please reply here or contact us using the contact link on the left if you have a strong opinion either way. Thanks.

I think the issue they are winging about is that anytime you branch an existing module, or create your own, you'll be mortgaged to deal with API changes and other platform issues as upgrades occur. To me this is a given and not unusual, but the people I talk to make it out to be a deal-breaker for any customization of modules.

I am part of two person team and we handle several Drupal 6 and 7 sites. Some of them have custom modules running. How much customization are you talking about? Most cases can be handled with contrib modules. If you have in-house developers, already; they will have to learn Drupal! What's the alternative, a custom system?

Doe to some comments I was given from a Drupal house I'm working with, I'm interested in hearing about the true business cost of developing custom modules. Should an office with in-house developers undertake module customization, or is the cost too high? What does that mean for the customizability of Drupal - only through costly subcontracting?
