Re: [louisvillegamers] Stepping down as Organizer

My condolences on your best man as well. Not an easy time for you, I'm sure.

That said, if you truly feel up to it, I'm sure you, Jason, Gary and I could meet up next weekend for a while to hammer things out. Maybe even coax Jester, cat herder extraordinaire, out to share some of his wisdom. For now, however, let's see how your week pans out - that's the important thing here.

I'm definitely very sorry to hear that Matt.
If I'm able to help out with anything please let me know. Even if it is just a game night to clear your head.

The rest of the stuff is small potatoes in light of that kind of news.

Hi Guys!
As Jason mentioned, we are in discussions about how we want to do the gamesite, whether Fandomfest will pick up the tab or it gets added to the Louisville Boardgamers 3 slots... How it is done is a matter for further discussion when we get together.  I know you were just kidding about the "getting married" thing Jason, but in the past two days things have become... complicated.  My best man has cancer and we actually moved up the wedding from June '13 to October 20 so he can be involved, but we just recieved news that he will be coming home from the hospital to hospice and he may not have more than a week or so.  That being said, my fiance and I are going to postpone the wedding till we get through this and can have the wedding at a happier time.  That being said, I can probably make a meeting over the October 20 weekend now if we can put that back on the table.
Fandomfest is looking to expand into an entertainment industry in the Louisville area,  We have developed the Drive in of Terror at Georgetown and are currently having a fun time with it!  That being said, we are definitely looking at sponsoring events for gaming, anime, film and other pop culture events in and around town.  The courthouse sounds like  great venue for monthly events that the local gaming clubs can join in.  Also the Bluegrass magic shop has a LOT of tables that can be used for scheduling events as well.  Fandomfest has aquired both the Galt House and the International Convention Center for this coming con, and we plan on putting gaming smack dab in the middle of the ICC so everyone can see us playing and jump in. I still think the Galt house provided better atmosphere for LARPS, such as Vampire, but there is no reason why we cant have sign ups in the ICC.  Sponsoring small events through the gaming clubs like LG, LBG and CBG, are great ways to get word of mouth out to gamers to attend events, and drive up attendance for Fandomfest as well. So it's win/win for everyone, Don't forget, we have already drawn major celebs like Shatner and Stan Lee for the next con!
I will be checking for emails and responses everyday, but i will be looking at taking care of my friend and helping him set his affairs in order this coming week.  Let me know when a good time is for a meeting over the Oct. 20 weekend.
See ya!
Matt

I've had bad experiences trying to participate in game forums in the past, and as I mostly play in my own homebrew, never seem to have much to offer that is of any value to the group.  So I haven't spoken up a lot here.  But we have been playing some more established board games lately... ARKHAM HORROR, GAME OF THRONES, CATAN.  And I enjoy designing games.  So maybe I could run a demo or something sometime.

Or not.  Whatever.
