I just realized I am on lock down due to the marathon. So sorry I'm missing out! Today is Wedge's 4th adoption day anniversary with me and we were looking forward to sharing that with everyone! Enjoy the walk!

Thanks for the support and well wishes.

I don’t really know any dog owner who wouldn’t step-up to try to help their beloved companion.

I’m just glad she seems to be a lot better this week. It seems taking Pepcid ac and just sticking with a wet food has addressed her problem. I’m hoping this latest episode wasn’t as serious as it seemed at the time.

Incidentally, I had ulterior motives in posting Jop’s recent health crisis. I was hoping perhaps somebody had experience with one of their dogs having lar par? I had never even heard of it, but apparently it’s a common condition, particularly in geriatric larger dogs like Labs and Goldens.? Joplin is very young to have developed this condition; however, I’ve read it’s not impossible.

Anyway, if Joplin continues to improve, then we’ll be back in no time.

    Hi all,
I just wanted to let you all know where we’ve been. Unfortunately Joplin has had some major health issues since Thanksgiving. She had surgery for an elongated soft palate. And just a few days later—after rushing her to the emergency clinic on Lamar that Joplin needed a tie back surgery for Laryngeal Paralysis.
We were hoping that was the end of it, but just weeks after the Lar Par surgery, Joplin is having motility issues. Our local vets are hoping it might be due to all the surgery she has had—that there might be some inflammation causing her esophagus not to work correctly. At this point there are no indications of mega-esophagus on xray. She is being treated with motility and anti-vomiting medications.
If this treatment doesn’t stabilize her, we’ll be going to a neurologist for potential polyneuropathy.
We’re hoping to get her back to the point we can participate in the walks again. We all enjoy them so much.
Hope to see you all again real soon.
