FREE Training to Love-A-Bull Members!


As many of you know, a bedrock belief of this group is that responsible guardianship involves a commitment to strengthening the bond between you and your dog. To support our goal of helping all of our members to be model guardians of healthy, happy, well-behaved pit bulls, we are very excited to launch Love-A-Bull's first major initiative -- FREE training to our members!

We are partnering with Kheli Kitts, a nationally accredited local trainer with over 10 years of experience with all kinds of dogs. She is patient, knowledgeable, flexible and pit-friendly -- and is eager to embark on this special opportunity with us.

This training is a tremendous value for your yearly $20 dues payment, will make you and your dog more confident, will help prove to the community that pit bulls are trainable, and that there are many dedicated and responsible pit bull guardians. And it will be fun! Ultimately, we want ALL of our dogs to be Canine Good Citizens.

So, you are probably saying, "This is GREAT! How do I sign up??" Here's what you need to know before you commit to the program:

* Each session will take place at Southpaws Playschool (2324B South Lamar; Austin, TX 78704)

* The classes will be one hour in length, once a week for 4 weeks. Please check our calendar for each session at www.love-a-bull.org.

* All dogs will be on leash during class, and owners will need to bring their rabies vaccination records to the first class along with yummy, soft treats and a clicker.

* The first class will cover basics like "watch, sit, down, leash walking, come, and leave-it" and progress through harder tasks and commands, leading up to readiness to take the Canine Good Citizen test.

* Each participant will be asked to submit a $50 deposit in advance, FULLY REFUNDABLE if the participant attends all 4 classes (this is to ensure full participation, we want to make sure valuable space is not taken by folks who do not attend!).

* Each class will be limited to 10 participants to ensure individual attention. Since we will most likely have a waiting list, it will be first come, first serve. Our goal and intent is to be able to offer these 4-week sessions on a continual basis throughout the year, so that as many interested members as possible can take advantage.

* Most important, you MUST be a member in good standing with Love-A-Bull to get on the list. This means that you need to be current with your $20 dues payment.
