Mount Pleasant Musing

Tentative agenda:

1. Introductions as necessary, to include:
A. Background.
B. Writing aspirations.
C. What you would like to get from these meetings.

2. Optional assignment for those who need a nudge:

The second week in November is National Education Week.  Write about some school experience, factual or fictional.

3. Share work for feedback. Please don’t let a lack of work keep you from attending. It is our mission to help you light that spark. If you post work ahead of time in The Reviewing Arena on the Message Board under the “Discussions” link at the top of your screen, we’ll be able to provide more constructive reviews based on detailed analysis.

4. A little spontaneous conjuring to release any excess creative energy that may be bubbling around in the room.

5. Open forum. Topics could include, but are not limited to:

A.  The power of observation.

B.  Time’s a-wasting.

C.  The substance of story.

Let the creativity flow from your soul!

Sorry, I will not be able to make the above mtg. on Sat. in Mt. Pleasant but on the flip side, that does free up a spot for someone who wants to be there! Would like to be there but something has come up. Have an awe-inspiring meeting!

Can anyone let me share a ride from West Ashley on Sat. a.m. for this mtg? Would be eternally grateful! Thanks in advance!

I've been hoping for a MTP event, but unfortunately I can't go. I'm already committed for the YALL Fest downtown all day on the 9th. FYI: Sorry if this is tangential to this group and possibly not relevant to most. But, if you've not heard of it (and they haven't publicized it much), the YALL Fest is the Blue Bicycle's literary event. I only know about it because my daughter and her friends are all going.

There are supposed to be 40-50 authors (many NYT best sellers) from the "Young Adult" genre attending. I think the books must be "multiple genres" as there are a lot of adults who really like writers such as Veronica Roth ("Allegiant" released yesterday). The "Yallfest.org" website has some sketchy details. The opening and closing things are sold out, but something (book signings definitely) goes on between 11:30 -- 6pm. I can't vouch for whether it's a worthwhile thing as I've not gone to the first two Yall Fests.
