RE: [writers-1045] Recapping West Ashley Wordsmiths

I, too, will volunteer to assist with an anthology.  As Ted was the first volunteer, I will propose that he be “the keeper of the files”.   Just as a first shot at some sort of organizational scheme, what if we all sent material to Dave, who would be the first editor (filter, if you will), and he would send material to me and I would be second base, then I send the material to Ted for final editing and archiving.  That gives us three peer reviewers, which is pretty much standard in my field.

What we lack are:  1) a theme of some sort, and 2) a marketing scenario; i.e., the publisher.   Multiple details to be ironed out later include a title, authorship, rules about use of vulgar language (me), etc.

People need to understand that not everything submitted would get included.  For example, I could act as second editor and still not have any of my stuff in the anthology because my material does not fit with whatever  theme is chosen. -– Mark

Saturdays are really tough on my schedule, so I don't make many meetings, but I'd be glad to volunteer to assist with the compilation.

We extended a warm welcome to newcomer Hillary Hutchinson before pondering a world without computers, smart phones and all the other technical gadgets that run our lives these days.

Mark Collins inquired about the possibility of publishing an anthology of all the gems produced during our meetups. This sounds like a wonderful idea, but I don’t have the time and energy it would take to compile and sort through the hundreds of stories, essays and poems created during our meetings over the years. I also don’t have the inclination to judge which should be included and which should be left out. There is surely enough worthy material for several books, in my humble opinion. Any thoughts/suggestions/volunteers?

We concluded with an imaginary visit to a French restaurant for our spontaneous writing exercise.

Let the creativity flow from your soul!
