Janice ,

I' m a definite maybe. My plan was to be down there from Feb. 15 thru April 15. I am hoping to stick to that plan but right now my 91 year old mother is in hospice care and we don't know what is going to happen. If there is still a spot open when I have a better idea if what's going on I will give you an answer. Otherwise I'll try to catch your class another time.

I'll keep in touch.

Dear Fellow Writers and Lowcountry Writers Group Members,

I'm offering a
new section of the STRUCTURE YOUR FICTION class.  This class lasts for 7 weeks, meets once a week, and the fee is $200 including all materials.  Begins week of February 11.  Scene building, dialogue, how to critique your own and others' work, character construction, tension and pacing, how to build a chapter, publication.  Join us!  Limited to 5 students for maximum personal instruction and interaction.

In this class, you'll learn how to put your stories together in a way that best supports the tales you want to tell.

As a reader, you know the difference between a satisfying story and one that leaves you restless and annoyed.  Thin soup leaves you hungry.  A satisfying story has good bones, a structure that makes the story cohere, a structure that can be mapped.  As a writer, you can learn sound structural  techniques so that your own stories deliver on their promise.  Your toolbox needs to be full and you must know how to use those tools.  Readers see clearly how well or poorly you've structured your story.

In our class, we'll learn how to build strong scenes, how to make powerful chapters, and how to drive plot via character development, among other techniques.  Although the class is focused on fiction writing, previous students who are writing memoirs or other non-fiction projects have found the class incredibly useful.

Class will be held in West Ashley.  Each section is approximately two hours long and class scheduling is flexible. The class location is on the second floor and there is no elevator; so sorry.

I'm offering EITHER a class section from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday evening, OR a 10 am to noon section, Tuesday or Thursday.  If enough students enroll, we'll hold both sections.  When you respond, please indicate which class section you would like to attend.

Please reply via email to [address removed] to indicate your interest and your preferred section.   Let's get you started on creating unforgettable stories!
