One response I received suggested I ghostwrite this book -  all of it coming from the subject's words. I hadn't thought of doing it that way. I was going to narrate and  use quotes from him.

But now I'm thinking that could be the best way as he has reams of notes he had written during his " journey". Plus he has a unique way of talking that could be the tone of the book.

Have you had any experience ghostwriting?

Tell me more about his back ground... I would start with an intriguing snippet of his life as a great hook then unfold his life at how he's arrived at his success or famous family secrets!  Or you could just ask his how he would like the book to FLOW!  work from there!

Dear Janice and Fellow Writers,

I have had an unusual situation arise - someone has approached me to write a book about his story. While I am a writer and have had articles published in newspapers and magazines, I have never done anything on this scale.

His is a provocative story and he comes from a famous family, so I feel that it will have a great deal of interest. And he has pursued a low-key, unknown writer like myself purposely. Also, he has seen some of my work and likes my writing style, so we are on our way. But I am absolutely terrified at the size of this and am lacking in self-confidence that I can even do it justice.

I have my masters in journalism, I am published, but I don't even know how to begin this. Can anyone help me with suggestions on where to start, how to organize notes, how to figure out the structure of the story - maybe a writing book that would help? I don't know any professional writers and am not sure where to turn.

This feels like a chance in a lifetime and I don't want to mess it up, but feel very insecure.

Any advice would be a godsend.

Thank-you,

Elizabeth

Dear Fellow Writers,

Just a reminder that enrollment for the weekday morning section of the new STRUCTURE YOUR FICTION class will close soon.   Classes begin the week of September 24 and there are only a couple of slots remaining.

Although the primary focus of the class is to explore sound fiction structure, the content is also applicable to non-fiction prose pieces as well:   scene construction, chapter design, tension and pacing, character development.   Several non-fiction writers working on memoirs and other personal-history pieces have benefited from the course.  In this class, you'll learn how to put your stories together in a way that best supports the tales you want to tell.

This class lasts for 7 weeks, meets once a week on a weekday morning 10 am to noon, $200 including all materials.

A satisfying story has good bones, a structure that makes the story cohere, a structure that can be mapped.  As a writer, you can learn sound structural  techniques so that your own stories deliver on their promise.  Your toolbox needs to be full and you must know how to use those tools.  Readers see clearly how well or poorly you've structured your story.

Class will be held in West Ashley.  Each section is approximately two hours long and class scheduling is flexible. The class location is on the second floor and there is no elevator; so sorry.   Class fee is $200.

Please reply via email to [address removed] to indicate your interest and your preferred weekday.   Let's get you started on creating unforgettable stories!
