This Saturday July 12, SHL volunteers will have an extra opportunity to show that we care about our community. Providing proof that people really do read our Adopt-A-Highway sign on Harborview Rd, a James Island resident contacted us to ask us to do an extra trash pick-up. While the area of concern is where our sign is located, this area of the roadway is normally cleaned by another group, James Island Pride. As a result, SHL is going to team-up with James Island Pride to help make our advertised area of the roadway look beautiful. This volunteer activity will be an excellent opportunity for us to continue to build a positive relationship in the community. (If you have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to sport your newest SHL shirt, this would be it.) Instead of our normal location, we will meet at James Island Town Hall for this trash pick-up. It is located in the same shopping plaza as Smokey Oak Taproom, at the corner of Camp Rd and Dill's Bluff. We have bags, gloves, orange safety vests, and long handled "picker-uppers" provided by Palmetto Pride and the SCDOT. Kids are welcome (with parents), but the traffic is fairly fast along this road so parents should use their judgment. Please join us if you can!
