"The only difference between religion and superstition is the spelling." "A society without religion is like a maniac without a gun." "A lie is at the heart of 'beLIEf.'" "Faith is often the boast of the man who is too lazy to investigate." "A believer is a bird in a cage, a freethinker is an eagle parting the clouds with tireless wing." "If god doesn't like the way I live, let him tell me, not you." "Philosophy is questions that may never be answered. Religion is answers that may never be questioned." "Religion might be helpful in death, but education is helpful in life." "Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day; give him a religion, and he'll starve to death while praying for a fish." "Randomness scares people. Religion is a way to explain randomness." "One might be asked "How can you prove that a god does not exist?" One can only reply that it is scarcely necessary to disprove what has never been proved."

It's a good place to meet people who are fun and interesting, who won't look at you like you have three heads if you admit that you find humanism and compassion and evolution and science to be admirable and persuasive, and you think that tales of supernatural beings belong in myths and fairy stories.

Isn't it important to know the people in your community, when they share your basic values?
