Sunday Morning Topical Meeting

  • April 20, 2014 · 10:30 AM

What to expect: This monthly meeting typically begins with an introduction all around for the benefit of any first-time attendees, and discussion of any announcements, upcoming events, etc. We then move on to a topic of interest to atheists (usually) chosen beforehand. Sometimes participants bring print-outs of articles, research, or books to share on the topic, and sometimes people just come with a story or opinion to share.

We loosely moderate the topical discussion to give everyone a chance to participate. Then the conversation often flows onto other related subjects, sometimes in smaller conversation groups around the table.

If you have any ideas for meeting topics, please let any of the co-organizers know. We can also add announcements or "mini-topics" on the agenda if there's anything you'd like to share with the group.

Fun Easter discussions! It was good to see those that attended. Here is a link to the discussion with David Silverman (president of American Atheists) and a couple of Brigham Young University professors: https://twitter.com/AmericanAtheist/status/457027712339570689

I was kinda disappointed that no one gave actual examples of where in Mormon teaching that showed they encouraged shunning seeing as how most of the discussion was about that

Randall, is there Mormon scripture that refers to shunning ex-Mormons?

I'm under the weather, this cold is particularly bad in the morning so I probably can't make it. How was the assembly?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
