Introduction

Hi everyone! I am Jake Witmer. I am a longtime libertarian, property-rights advocate, and futurist. I understand that true jury trials that allow nullification are necessary for freedom. http://www.jcwitm... http://www.fija.o...

What expectations do you have of the party and or your involvment with us?

I want the IL LP to have ballot access, and to run serious candidates (like Wayne Root). When they do that, I'll get more involved. I intend to partner the LP with ongoing jury rights activism. http://www.fija.org

Are you currently a member of the National or Illinois Libertarian Party?

Yep.

How did you find this meetup?

I googled "Ayn Rand" and "Capitalism" and Libertarian came back, and I read the (then) National LP platform. Then I googled "Libertarian" and "Chicago". When I attended Scott Kohlhaas was down from Alaska to run the 2002 ballot access campaign...

Additional Information

"I strongly recommend that people begin organizing (in alternating groups) targeting the incoming jurors at their local courthouses, and handing them FIJA pamphlets as they enter on the "jury selection" day of the week. Go to http://www.fija.org"

What Jake Witmer is saying about this Meetup Group

1) They should join if they are libertarians (if they believe in the strict protection of individual rights for all citizens), and want the Libertarian Party to be a serious political party that has ballot access in Chicago, IL. 2) They should join if they want libertarians to run for local political offices in IL. 3) They should join if they are activists who want to increase the profile of the Chicago Libertarian Party, even if they don't currently understand how do go about doing so. 4) They should join if they want to prevent the state from punishing people for victimless crimes. http://www.fija.org (Here is information --in the "forum" area of the website-- about victimless crime defendants in IL who are fighting prosecution under illegitimate and unconstitutional laws who would like their juries to be informed that they are not obligated to obey judicial instructions. These defendants would like to receive information on jury nullification of law.)
