Re: [lunchclub-159] IMPORTANT INFO FOR ALL LUNCH EVENTS

Ive gone to this group three times and I only paid for food we shared. Sarina never asked any donation or extra money from us.

If you must order certain food for yourself, you are right, this group is not for you.

This group is for people who dont mind or arent afraid of trying out real ethnic food.

I dont eat pork but we ordered many kinds of food so I still enjoyed them while I skipped the pork dish.

I paid $12 when we went to a Korean Chinese restaurant and that was the most expensive lunch I shared with this group.

And I really hate paying my own meal unless I get my own bill from the restaurant.

Ive gone to many restaurants with a big group and always ended up paying more than what I ate. I guess some people didnt pay their drinks, enough tip or the restaurant overcharged us With this group, you can try out inexpensive many kinds of ethnic food at once and paid the meal fairly.

Under $20 a person but we do not gorge ourselves but eat a reasonable amount of food. Usually everyone is quite satisfied. In addition we generally do not go to tourist restaurants. They are mostly not fancy, serve food the locals eat, and we try to experiment with new and interesting foods. We get to taste of many dishes and get a small serving of each. If someone has a huge appetite, they will not be happy.

To those offended by the strong wording of rules---What about "preordering" don't you understand? Of course  the organizer has to stipulate harsh rules coming down on those who blow off the meetup--NOT showing up causes additional expense for those who attend and it assures too much food will be on the table. And, of course, if you have "special needs" foodwise, you shouldn't be in this group.

Hmmm, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. If there's enough variety, most people will have dishes they can enjoy and it's simply too hard in a large group to cater to everyone's special dietary requirements. Sounds like Sarina is trying to ensure that everyone can try lots of different tastes and items they might not usually order and also keep the process from becoming a logistical nightmare. I'm all for the no-special-orders policy - in fact, I'm MORE interested in the group because of it - and I think anyone who can't handle it should either be in a special group for their dietary needs or merely in a dining situation where they don't share. Being a big sharer myself, I can't imagine a better way to hold a lunch Meet-up.

Cheers,
Michael

I thought this would be a nice groups to belong to, but you sound like someone who is on a serious POWER TRIP. Please REMOVE me from this group.

Thanks!

As many of you know I have recently posted two lunch events and I see some new people have responded which is very nice.
However I want to be sure everyone is clear on the rules for my Lunch events.
1. Unless otherwise stated all meals are shared family style and we share the bill.
2. I do all the ordering of food unless I ask for someone's assistance which I have prearranged to do.
3. There are no special diets or special foods for people who are allergic etc. We try to order a variety and I will usually order some spice dishes.
****4. If you respond YES I expect you to show up. This is Most IMPORTANT! Because I am not asking for money in advance I expect people to attend if they respond YES. As My Regular members know I expect 100% attendance. If anyone does not show and responds Yes even once they will be removed from the group. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
5. I usually have small groups of about 10 people and I expect a wait list. If you change your mind on the last day you may also be removed from the group unless you have a very good reason.
6. I would like all members to post a picture, unless I know you personally. If there are people on a wait list and you do not have a picture, I may replace you with someone who does.
I am aware that many MU people are not reliable and do not show for many reasons. This will not be acceptable in this group. I am sorry if you do not like my rules but I run very sucessful events and I plan to keep it that way for the benefit of my responsible members.
