I'm from the Washington DC area originally, but have moved from Cleveland, OH where I was living for 3 years for work. I've only just arrived in May, and will only be in SM for a year, as my husband (we just got married a month ago!) is completing a fellowship, then it's off to our next adventure.
I'm a Genetic Counselor by training, which I practiced clinically for about 3 years before coming here. Now I am working as the administrator of a small foundation that's I'm also a Director of, providing scholarships to college students who are doing unpaid internships but need help with the living expenses. It's something completely new that I am learning as I go and I love it! I'm also consulting for a non-profit that represents a rare genetic cause of Autism, primarily helping curate their registry and database, and doing a little patient outreach. Both positions mean I can work from home, which gives me wonderful freedom and flexibility, but also limits my opportunities to meet people in my new city. Thus, why I'm here. Although I also love to eat so that absolutely has something to do with it.
This is not helpful, but I like all types of food except really really spicy! I've been to very few places so far, since I just arrived, but have enjoyed Santa Monica Seafood, Umami burger, and Rustic Canyon. I enjoying trying new foods and interesting combinations of flavors, so am pretty adventurous.
As mentioned above, new friends, good conversation, time out of the house, and new culinary experiences.
Hello! I just moved to Santa Monica and work from home, so I'm looking for new friends, new places to eat, and a great excuse to get out in the middle of the day!
Two for two so far, going really well =)
