Well Colibri was another good one from the Eldorado region this last time and it looks like we've got another winner in June with Holly's Hill Vinyards which produces excellent tasting varietals from Viognier and Roussanne to Petite Syrah, Syrah, Cab Syrah, Mourvedre, and Grenache, and will be pouring these varietals to taste. You will be able to purchase full glass' of what you like afterward.

* Basic will also be mixing it up with several different pizzas for great pairing with wines

Basic has a great space that our biggest crowd(s) of wine lovers enjoyed in March, April, and May and I'm sure this time will be just as popular. Even if by chance you don't care for any of the wines being poured for free, Basic has some good wines by the glass or bottle. The pours per glass after the free tasting are generous and reasonably priced. Along with free pizza and hors d'oeuvres Basic has you covered.

Salut!

Sorry I couldn't make it out last Thursday, but I did want to mention that Holly's Hill's has a couple fun events happening this month. One is a blind Rhone tasting that I did last year, very relaxed, sit down outside and really evaluate all the wines, and served with some excellent cheese. End of month is a release event with some great food pairings. I suggest checking out their website!

Good suggestion there Scott, though I love to talk to the winemakers so I tend to hang out at the bar a bit to ask questions about the wine, etc.

I really like it there. I would like it if they had better table service for those ordering pizza and drinks during the event. We had to keep going to the waitress for everything.
    •  Enjoyed the group very much and the place did a great job hosting us.
    •  Great venue!
    •  better if there were more casual "stand-up" tables and Holly's Hill was rather light woth their wine pours... under one ounce and hardly enough for most people to make and evaluation of the wines. The pizzas were good and a few more, or more often delivered would have been great.
    •  I am so thankful to have another great wine tasting. I missed the free apps, but I'm sure I would have loved them. I ave shared this event with non-meetup friends and they have loved it was well. Hooray!

Great old building and fun layout. I like the simple look. Wines were good but not great. The reds seemed young but I think will be good in a few months to a year.
    •  Always fun - fun people - fun place!
    •  The food and wine were excellent.
    •  Scott rocks for setting this up, Thanks Scott!! Couple honest feedback issues that I heard from many in the crowd. 1) The winery poured such very small pours that we could barely taste the wine. They are there to win over new consumers to their brand, but didn't let anyone taste enough to know. 2) Seems the owner is moving more towards selling pizza then to keep giving it away free at this event. Put out less then half then he did before. It's all good, just relaying what I heard many people say.
    •  I had a great time.
    •  My first event with the group. Everyone that I talked with was very nice. Scott and Carolyn were great. My only negatives were that the place was way noisy. Also the guy pouring was pretty stingy with those pours and I never got near any of the Pizza...I had to order one for take out though since it did look good (and was).
    •  Scott did it again! Great venue, wine and company.
