The Sacramento park is a landmark in the city. In June 2003, the park re-opened after improvements were made to beautify the existing plaza, which has been a focal point for Sacramento for over 100 years. Concerts and special events take place often at the park since it is located in the center of the downtown area. Friday Night Concerts in the Park take place every May - mid-August on a stage located at the north side of the plaza. Most of the artists scheduled to perform are well known in the area and play a variety of music. Alive & Kicking publisher and music promoter Jerry Perry books the music for the concerts that can bring in hundreds of fans!!
Friday Night Concerts are FREE
Lawn Chairs & Picnics are welcome (no glass bottles, but we bring a Rubbermaid container of vino)
Beer @ Wine Garden for 21 and older(w/ID)
Food & Beverages are available for purchase
Parking available on street and around plaza for all events
June 12th: Shakedown - The Kinetics - Syncro
The music appears to be a mix of rock, hip hop, reggae, pop, and indie this evening.
We usually situate ourselves next to the fence thingy between the wine/beer area and non-drinking area. Look for Scott (he is fairly tall and easy to recognize) or call me at 715-9732 (hopefully will feel the vibe).
We sometimes go to another venue afterwards for food and/or drink and/or music. Thanks to Christina for being a awesome hostess last week and then recommending the Torch Club.
