Holly's Hill was another good winery from the Eldorado region this last time and it looks like we've got another great one in July with Crystal Basin Cellars. Folsom Style Magazine Readers selected them as the #1 winery in the region! This was out of all wineries in El Dorado, Amador and Placer counties. They have told us they will bring the following for us to try:

2008 RouMarNier - Rousanne, Marsanne and Viognier in equal parts. Nice fruit mouthfeel with balanced acidity - List price $16

2008 Chardonnay - All Stainless, so no oak – no butter! Tropical fruit flavors make a great patio sipping wine for hot afternoons - List price $15

2007 Zinfandel – A silky smooth Claret style Zin that is great to pair with flavorful foods – Gold Medal at the 2009 Orange County Fair! - List price $22

2007 Mourvedre – 100% varietal from El Dorado fruit. Hints of white pepper and a bit of smoke. Big fruit and no tannins – Bring out the Tenderloin! - List price $25

2006 Triumphant – A sublime blend of All Five Bordeaux varietals! The CBC crew puts months of work into this blend of Cab Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. A customer favorite since 2003. List price $45You will be able to purchase full glass' of what you like afterward.

* Basic will also be mixing it up with several different pizzas for great pairing with wines

Basic has a great space that our biggest crowd(s) of wine lovers enjoyed in March, April, May, and June and I'm sure this time will be just as popular. Even if by chance you don't care for any of the wines being poured for free, Basic has some good wines by the glass or bottle. The pours per glass after the free tasting are generous and reasonably priced. Along with free pizza and hors d'oeuvres Basic has you covered.

Salut!

I have had a great experience thus far with the Sacramento Wine Lover's meetup group. I was somewhat disappointed tonight, not 100% due to meetup though. The substitute "group leader" approached me asking me if I was part of the "singles group," which to me is a slap in the face to the fact that I was there to appreciate good wine and good company. I miss you Carolyn and Scott! The wine was fine, the atmosphere great, I just hope participants don't assume what others are there for.

Had a good time. It was a bit warm in there for the small size of the group. It might be tough in there if it gets in the 100's. But I like the place over all. The wine was very good and I look forward to making it to the winery to try the rest.
    •  Nice wines - generous pours!
    •  It was alot of fun. Ran into friends i knew and made some new friendships.
    •  Wonderful venue. The yummy pizza kept coming and the wine was excellent. Great fun!!
