Carl Hancock Rux is an award winning, multi-talented artist, writer and performer. Please read carefully, as the date is less than a week away and the possibility for a private PhotoQuest101 shoot before or after the lecture and/or show are still in the planning stages with Zoellner Center for the Performing Arts and Carl Hancock Rux's agent. Click to Preview CARL HANCOCK RUX on YouTube and you WILL want to participate in this exciting program. ++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++ Anyone can attend this lecture. It begins at 7:30pm. It is free and open to the public, however... Members of PhotoQuest101 may be granted special access to photograph Carl Hancock Rux during his lecture, however... Limitations and restrictions are certain to be imposed. I do not yet know what they are. We may also be granted a special photo session before or after the lecture and/or the show on Thursday night. All participating photographers are expected to provide high-quality, high-resolution photos to me, the group organizer for distribution to the performing art center and the performing artist. ++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++ Diamond Theater • Free; no tickets required Carl Hancock Rux crosses the disciplines of poetry, theater, music, and literary fiction in order to achieve what one critic describes as a “dizzying oral artistry...unleashin g a torrent of paper bag poetry and post modern Hip-Bop music; the ritualistic blues of self awakening.” A published poet, playwright, novelist and essayist, Rux is the author of several books including his first poetry collection, Pagan Operetta, for which he received the Village Voice Literary Prize; the Obie Award-winning play Talk; the novel Asphalt; and the 2007 opera, The Blackamoor Angel. He heads the Writing for Performance program at the California Institute of the Arts, and is a curator and consultant for the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, where he is developing Macandal with Daniel Bernard Roumain and Edouard Duval-Carrié. I will not be imposing a meetup fee for this event, but any donations will be gratefully accepted and acknowledged in order to facilitate and expedite new and exciting Photo Opportunities! Members of the Lehigh Valley Writer's Symposium will join together with author Jeffrey B. Allen to celebrate the new release of his milestone book GoneAway Into the Land. It is a powerful novel that wraps itself around you at the turn of every page. GoneAway is geared for adolescents and adults. You don’t want to miss this unique offering by Jeffrey B. Allen. Stop by to: support a local author on his newly published book. support the Lehigh Valley Writer's Symposium to show support for the labor of all authors. to rekindle your inspiration to write your own book! just to chat, to listen, to ask questions. to buy some autographed gift books or a signed personal treasure to mix, meet and mingle with your fellow writers and Symposium members. to get out of the house for a 'socially relevant' evening. for a fun time you'll be sure to remember. for some of that great Brew Works food and beer. for a chance to win valuable prizes! Jeffrey B. Allen, a former teacher within the Quakertown School district, and an architectural designer for twenty six years, was the recipient of the Upper Bucks Colonel Holt Business Achievement award, and is the holder of a 50 ton Coast Guard Captain’s license. He has written an epic novel that is being touted as one of the most unique works of fiction to come along in years. Allen calls his writing Socially Relevent Fantasy. GoneAway Into the Land deals with the space that exists between life and death. It says that, in most cases, there is no such thing as death, as you will learn if you read the novel. The main character slips into that space without knowledge of having done so. It is an infinite space without time or universal cycles. The energy John carries with him seeks to cleanse itself of that which went wrong during his short life. Much went wrong for John, and for his family. He spends nearly the entire novel searching for answers while the dark forces continue their tireless work of poisoning the World. This is John’s journey into the Land; a twelve year old boy who grows in strength and character, but is he gone away? The story’s entertainment value is enticing, but the book’s symbolism is inescapable. It’s an epic novel that has been described as a modern day Lord of the Rings. Fantasy and heart collide into a new genre in the first book of this promising series. -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -- On street parking is free after 6:00 pm in Allentown http://photos4.meetu pstatic.com/photos/e vent/d/9/6/a/event_7 15658.jpeg

Attention Published Authors! Every month we will choose THREE published authors for our January Book Signing in the Mezzanine at the Allentown BreWWorks. Every month we will select a theme or topic for a workshop and round table discussion. Bring your books and talk about the creative process, the mechanics of writing, the trials and tribulations of finding an agent and publisher and whatever happens next! Bring along copies of your book to sign and sell to the rest of us in the mix. Not yet a published author? Looking for a rare and special gift or a personal treasure? Come talk with the authors; ask your burning questions and take home a personally signed copy of some wonderful books by local authors. Enjoy a great meal at the Allentown Brew Works, quaff some incredible brews. Make a night of it, meet some old friends. Make some new ones. ++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++ MORE DETAILS of this Meetup will be posted shortly!
