Hi all,
I just joined this meetup group for Lyme Disease and am looking forward to meeting all of you. I don't have a 'labratory confirmed' diagnosis of Lyme, but my primary care physician thinks it's just a formality. I'm looking to find a Lyme Literate doctor who has experience treating lyme and its coinfections either in San Antonio or Austin. If any of you have any suggestions or are willing to share your doctors name, I would GREATLY appreciate it! Thanks so much, and I look forward to meeting you all. Leila |

Hope to see you at the upcoming meeting and I or any of the members should be able to answer all of your questions.

Hi Leila,
I'm trying to picture where Spicewood is? I too am seeking a Lyme doctor. My GP was treating me with oral antibiotics until six months ago when he had a stroke. Kind of ruined that setup. I chuckled at your almost apologetic tone regarding not having the laboratory diagnosis. Since when has that helped? You mean Lymies can actually EXPECT to receive treatment they don't have to fight tooth and nail for? I received the laboratory confirmation in 2004, even received IV antibiotic treatment for 3 months until Dr. H in Houston "suddenly" retired. Just dropped off the planet within the week. I figured I would stay with his partner so that his diagnosis and labs would be upheld. WRONGO. The partner decided that she was going to blow every Lyme patient he had out of the water. She disputed every laboratory on ridiculous grounds despite tons of supportive clinical evidence. I felt like I wasn't being attended to by professionals, but was receiving less care than the lab rats at research facilities. I struggle to accept that I will probably die a member of the Lyme "forfeited generation" This is where the first generation of every "emerging disease" is ridiculed and told it is all in their head. Before the gov. and medicine ever admits that there is a very real disease process taking hold, an entire generation is sacrificed and abandoned. I traced it back to diabetes and even back then, every new disease will have already taken the lives of an entire generation before medicine will admit to anything. This is not an accident, but is taught to doctors in medical school to prevent mass hysteria. ( a doctor told me) Give me a break. Peggy |

I would have to agree Peggy and I heard about Dr. H's demise also. I will be discussing alternative healing methods at our meeting next month so hopefully you will be feeling well enough around then
