South Bay Machine Knitting Meetup Group, August

Topic: I've been trying out single-motif with punchcards and how to get the edges of the motif neat, so I could demonstrate that.

And continuing with the short-row theme, I finished the seam-as-you-go slipper-socks that I started during last meeting from this video:

and have an almost finished baby hat from this video:

Beginners are always welcome, there'll be a knitting machine available for newcomers to try out. If you have a machine that you don't know how to use, bring it along and we'll help you get started. Or if you can't bring the machine itself bring a picture of it.

A $3 donation is requested towards the room and Meetup fees. Guests and first-time attendees are free.

Here's an idea for anyone who wants to "play" with their machine but worries about wasting time/yarn. Knit a giant (18-24 inch) "swatch" instead of the usual sample then donate to charity as a preemie blanket or to an animal shelter. Patterns without floats are suitable for babies, fairisle for pets. If you don't have a favored charity, I can distribute them - though they will likely go to New Jersey, Oklahoma or Texas.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
