Machine Knitting Day

We have a room at Campbell Library on Aug 4th from 10am to 3pm.

Minimum number to use the room is 8 people, so please RSVP as soon as you know you can come.  It is fine to bring a friend, they don't have to be a machine knitter. They don't have to join the Meetup group, nor do they have to stay the whole time.

If you don't already own a machine, let me know and we'll see about bringing a loaner machine for you to try out for the day.  I also plan to set up to do short demonstrations to anyone who drops by.

Rules about using the room are posted here:

Rules of note for us:
"Light refreshments may be served"
So it's OK to bring a lunch for yourself, or a snack to share.  Something that doesn't make too much mess, and doesn't need heat or refrigeration. The library is not far from the coffee shop and other restaurants in Campbell if you want to go out for lunch.

"Noise level should be appropriate for a library"
I hope this will be OK. Naturally we'll keep the door closed. If you have a choice of knitting machines or project to bring, consider its noise level. For example, avoid doing a lot of pattern work on your Brother machine - that timing belt does add to the noise. Perhaps this is not the day to knit that lace or fair-isle blanket you've been planning. But doing some sampling is fine.

Other than that, bring whatever project you want. Or just your machine, its manuals, tools and some yarn. And any questions you have, or an accessory or technique you've been wanting to try, or to demonstrate.

There are tables and chairs of course, but I didn't get a close look at how suitable they are for knitting machines. So if you have a portable table or stand please put it in your car just in case, though you probably won't need it. If your machine is electronic, bring an extension cord.

I had a great day, it was fun to meet everyone, both new knitters and long-standing members. Thanks everyone for the positive reviews you have posted. Special thanks to Norene for demonstrating, so we were able to have a beginner lesson and a general demonstration both happening at the same time.

Hello Jane, welcome to the group!
There's a Caltrain that leaves San Francisco at 8:15, 9:51 in San Jose, then the light rail to Campbell. Or could anyone pick Jane up from the Caltrain station on their way? I can't do it myself because that's right when I need to be opening up the room.
