February Hack & Tell

You can volunteer to present or come to listen. Each presenter gets 5 minutes to tell us about a thing they've made (software/robots/etc); then the audience gets 5 minutes to ask questions.

After the meetup, people trickle out. If there wasn't time to ask your question during the 5 minute window, you can catch the speaker then. We usually head to the Old Fashioned for dinner afterwards.

If you're willing to speak, please either post in the comments here or email me at leah.a.hanson at gmail. New speakers are always welcome, and the audience is friendly.

[We expect that if you're presenting a software project, you can show us the code. (This isn't a place to advertise your company's product, for example.) Unfinished/unpolished projects are welcome, but not presentations that are just ideas or plans.]

    Hi all,
Regarding my crossfilter + d3 + dc example, I uploaded my code on github:

Also, I think this should work as well on Plunker. (I am using a smaller data set):

    Hi Dan (et al),

I'm interested in speaking on the topic of "The Collaborative Semantic Web", and demonstrating related software.

Hi Bjorn, I liked your talk. Is there a public link to your crowdsourced editor, or the d3.js viewer you mentioned?

Hi Oran, thanks for your feedback. You can reach the crowdsourced ratings site at It's definitely a work-in-progress, so a few things will be non-functional. I don't have a public link yet for the D3 stuff, but I'll post that here when it's available. Looking forward to the next meeting!

Sorry, I won't be able to attend this one.

    Hi folks!

We currently have four presentations lined up, one related to cellular automata, one with bioinformatics, one on static analysis of a dynamic language, and one about low-level benchmarking of cache performance.

We also have a couple maybes, one on a mystery data science related thing and one on creating a 3D scan of an object.

We're still open for more talks; feel free to email either of us or post a comment if you want to present something.

I have an exam earlier in the afternoon on Tuesday so I think I'll save my project for next month. I'll hopefully have some more complete stuff to show people by then in any case.
