Drum all and dance around around fire for the full moon

We will be having a drum circle at Picnic Point in Madison, on the Saturday night closest to the full moon each month. The first one will be on Saturday, May 17, starting at 5 PM and going till around 11 PM. This time we are at fire pit number one, which is the first fire pit as you're going out to the point. The stone fire pit at the end of picnic point was booked this month but I will try to book that one in the future. All Hoopers drummers dancers and assorted hobgoblins are welcome. Bring your own drum if you have one and we will have extras and various noisemakers available as well. Finally, if you are able to bring some wood for the fire, please do.

I, too, am planning to bring along my kids, and didn't think to ask.... BUT... my kids are the type to "go anywhere" and are "spirit faeries" themselves--they'll fit right in, and are well behaved. And, I'm bring along some firewood too...

Andy: Here is my 2 cents worth. Picnic Point is accessed via University Bay Drive and the drive is actually a big half circle around the sports fields at UW. The Point sits in the Northeast corner of University Bay's half circle. It is near Bill's Woods and is very clearly marked on like Googlemaps. It is about a mile walk out to the point where we are. Be prepared for that. Good solid dirt path you can easily bike ride or drag a wagon with your supplies. In my experience there are rarely many bugs but bring a spray. If it's windy no problem. You will likely want to bring something to drink/share, a soft pad for your butt if you need, & maybe a light jacket if you need. We always appreciate the contribution of a few pieces of wood for the fire. The rest is kinda up to you, the drum, and the spirit.

I'm a newbie both the group and Madison, but I want go. Can someone give me that I can pretty easily follow? I'm coming from the East an have gps on the phone to help. Besides a drum what would be good to bring? Anything that would benefit the group or even just me? :-)

Where is the best place to park?

    • Jonathan R.

There is a small lot at the entrance to the park. I have always found plenty of parking

Sorry Jonathan. Reading the opening blurb sounds like the first pit going out with limited seating. Yes, plenty of seating if the last pit furthest out at the point.

If we are at pit 1 this time (September 6th) I advise folks to bring a chair. VERY limited seating built in. Parking is at picnic point dirt lot and the overflow is directly across from the entrance pillars.
