Read Your Screed

Gather at 7:00. Starting at 7:15, anyone who feels the urge gets 60 seconds to sound off on her or his latest cause. When the bell rings, sit down, shut up, and listen to the next person. After about 10 minutes, we've got something to talk about and can spend the next couple of hours doing it.

To prime the pump as to what to talk about, I will be doing a dramatic reading of all 51 root words in the English language containing the character string "ugh", and I'll be pronouncing them as God originally intended.

I had a sore throat yesterday so couldn't go. Please try again -- I like the idea of Read Your Screed a lot. I too had a "screed" planned.

Sorry, it was not to be tonight. And I thought I had a particularly fun screed to riff on. But with the "get out of town" madness ensuing, it was not meant to be. Richard, let's do another one very soon, especially before the summer craziness begins.

This sounds like a great event (I'm working on my "screed") and I'll be there!

Reminder! "Read Your Screed" this Wednesday night.

East siders! We'd like to do one like this, called "Pet Your Peeve", somewhere on your side of town in May. Keep your eyes open for a likely location.

Has this been posted on the Facebook site as well? If so, I missed it. People can get invites from FB as well, so it's a bit more targetted / one more chance to be sure they know. Can't wait, great idea Richard!

I don't do Facebook, so I didn't even know there WAS a Facebook site. Feel free to spread the word there.

I had occasion to stop in at O'Grady's last night just before a book discussion at Frugal Muse down the road. Normally I order a vegetarian meal, but there was just something about an option called the Cardiac Burger that I couldn't resist. Tasty! And not very expensive, either. I think we're going to like this place.

I'm tempted to do a rant about the evils of homeopathy.

You've got 60 seconds. I figure you might need 15 of them just to explain homeopathy, which leaves you with 45 for chortling, giggling, forehead-slapping, and eye-rolling.

It's an excuse to socialize, Joe. Extremely limited do-it-yourself program, followed by a couple of hours of boozin' & schmoozin' with your fellow skeptics and freethinkers.
