*RESCHEDULED DUE TO WEATHER* January Meetup: Adobe Fireworks - The Missing Link

  • February 7, 2011 · 6:00 PM
  • C2 Graphic Productivity Solutions

***THIS MEETUP HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR FEBRUARY 7, 6PM***

Due to pending bad weather, we have cancelled this meetup and rescheduled for Feb 7, 2011.

Please reconfirm your RSVP.

********************************

Dear Members:

Our next meetup will have C2 GPS instructor extraordinaire Kevin Stohlmeyer presenting on Adobe Fireworks.

Adobe Fireworks - The Missing Link
Adobe Fireworks is an under-utilized part of a Web Designer's workflow. Learn how to quickly mock up a functional prototype website and mobile interface utilizing both vector and raster graphics - no coding needed.

I can say from personal experience that C2 instructors are excellent.

Join us at 6pm, presentation at 6:30. Per earlier messages, please keep your RSVP - and don't change it at the last minute unless you really can't make it. Our presenters put a lot of time in to their work, and sometimes C2 people drive up from Milwaukee.

Thanks,

Ben Seigel

Good, honest coverage of the product. Lots of suggestions & examples. The only drawback was that the presentation was a little too long.

Great meetup, presentation was good. Could have used more group interaction and discussion, as opposed to one-way instruction.

This was a candid look at Fireworks, its features and flaws. Well presented.

Good info. Been a while since I've used FW. Good refresher.

Glad I know what Fireworks can do - but since I the designer/developer I prefer to build right way with clean code once I have a design. I can see the benefit of fireworks for image optimization for sure.

I can't make it this week, but hopefully there will be a presentation posted here afterward as I am very interested in Fireworks. Thanks, Ben.

    awww crappleberries.

In lieu of tonight's meetup, please enjoy my presentation from last month about "what not to do" when programming. This was given at the PHP meetup, but the concepts apply to all programming languages. It deals more with "how to be" than "what to do":

Thanks for the update! Hopefully it will be slightly less snowy next Monday. . . :-P

Yeah, what's the word on that? Are we going to postpone for snow? I'm looking out my office window and it looks pretty brutal. . .

I am very interested in this--have used FW for years (primarily for building interactive images and processing batches of images). I now use javascript/css menus which are flexible and easily changeable (no need to re-do in FW). FW has a great "batch" processor which re-sizies and/or tweaks a lot of images at once--I use this several times a week. I really am eager to learn additional features. I plan to attend regardless of snow--unless postponed.

I've been a user of FireWorks since its first public beta, but I use it only for application graphics and animation. I was hoping to learn more about its workflow features. I'm too worried about the snow (it's a 50-mile round trip) to commit.
