Madison, Wisconsin Web Design & Development Meetup Message Board › New MATC Classes for Web Developers: Drupal and Ruby On Rails
This message board is read-only.
Dear Meetup Members:
Two classes offered at MATC's winter/spring semester that may be of interest:
Drupal CMS Development
Drupal is a powerful, open-source Content Management System (CMS) suitable for small- and large-scale web projects. It has a large user community, a wide range of add-ons, and runs many notable sites, such as The Onion. This is the first Drupal course offered in Madison.

Ruby on Rails
Ruby on Rails is a new, agile web application development framework. The course will focus on really learning and practicing the core pieces framework. It will also cover using git as your source code control system, more testing strategies, setting up a continuous integration server for your project, and deploying your application. I can speak from personal experience regarding Ruby on Rails. It's a complex and challenging platform, but extremely powerful, efficient, and integrated. It takes a while to get good at Rails, but once you get there, you can replace your endless tangle of PHP, .NET, or Java code with short, succinct code that is a pleasure to write.

As both of these classes cover topics that are on the cutting edge of web site development, they face cancellation if there are not enough students. If you're interested, check them out!
