MongoDB + Perl

Mike Friedman will be stopping by to give two talks about MongoDB and Perl. Here's what he had to say about them:

I have two talks which I've delivered at other Perl groups: an introductory "Building Your First App with Perl & MongoDB" which is about 20 minutes, and a more advanced talk about using Perl with MongoDB's aggregation framework to do very cool big data(tm) stuff. I will also be giving the first (20 minute) talk at the upcoming YAPC.

Mike Friedman (http://search.cpan.org/~friedo/) gave a good MongoDB intro (it's come a long way in less than a year!) and then a good description of MongoDB aggregations (which I think of as command-line "black box" filters) and then
Timm talked a bit about his YAPC experience (and his iRobot / UAV::Pilot mashup).
For next month, we will be communicating re: "Where Can Perl Go? - Minitalks" in the comments for that page ( http://www.meetup.com/madmongers/events/183310712/ ) for which some folks have already volunteered (with minimal arm-twisting; thanks!); there was some additional loose talk about Docker (and I thought I remembered a perlbrew comment from somewhere) but those aren't scheduled yet; please either add your comment or contact JT or feel free to contact me at skaftanski at gmail... thanks!
