What Could Healthcare Be? Movie Night: Escape Fire

Movie Night: Escape Fire: The Fight To Rescue American Healthcare

A powerful and thought-provoking documentary that exposes the U.S. healthcare system as one designed to profit on disease rather than health. The film interweaves personal stories with the efforts of leaders battling to transform it.

Some of the folks in our community conversation at our last movie night shared a passion for sustainable healthcare. This movie is an opportunity to look at that and have a conversation about what health care might be in our community.

There will be a facilitated conversation after the film with an invitation to bring this into the unfolding Transition Portland initiative. Original Meetup: http://www.meetup.com/Transition-Towns-Start-ups-in-Portland/events/111707232/

It will be interesting to see if they take a health promotion/public health approach or just a variation on access to drugs & surgery.

This film is very relevant to my course work at Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I'm training to be a holistic health coach.
