Community Blitz at the Resilience Hub

Hey prolific blitzers! In 15 months, we've done 12 blitzes. That's somewhere along the lines of 2100 hours of work/education/community-building/ resource sharing! Amazing!

The Resilience Hub/Zero Station has been the coordination point for all of them - an important resource, a necessary gathering space, resource and tool storage, etc.  Now we have the opportunity to turn our blitz energies to the Hub itself!

Imagine an outdoor movie space/stage/deck area in the back accessible from the Bayside trail for those coming on bikes and tons of vertical and container growing space on a perfect south-facing concrete wall (hello, heat sink!)! We've got the go ahead to work collectively with Zero Station, the Aikido studio, and the bakery next door to make the space behind the hub into an outdoor community gathering space.

This will be a two part series of morning blitzes on Saturday, Sept 6 and Saturday, Oct 4. The first blitz will focus on clean up and clearing as much of the area behind the Resilience Hub is overgrown with bittersweet.

The Schedule:

9:00am Coffee, Tea, settling in

9:30am Opening Circle

10:00am Work!

12:30pm Potluck Lunch

What to Bring:

- long sleeved pants and shirts, closed toed-shoes

- work gloves

- water bottle

- sunscreen, sunhat

- notebook

- camera

- potluck dish and "kit"

If anyone has pictures please upload. I got there to late to see the before, I just saw the after and I know how good that looked! My wife wants to see what I was describing as well.

Ok that was one of the toughest blitzes yet, but maybe the most gratifying...clearing that awful site of hypodermic needles, human excrement, was not for the faint of heart! But that's why they call it urban renewal, right? and I suspect the building owners will be blown away by the results.
