Maine Seaweed Festival 2014

Welcome to Maine's first day-long celebration of seaweed. The Festival will run from 11 am until 5 pm. We are happy to announce that the first Maine Seaweed Festival will be a FREE event.

Full web site here:

One of the intentions of Seaweed Fest is to create awareness of who the Maine Seaweed Industry is and what it is doing to grow and protect our precious Marine resources. This includes job creation in our fisheries and beyond. During the event you will have the rare opportunity to hear from a variety of representatives from our local Seaweed industry. Meet the elders who have paved the path for our Fisheries’ future. Meet the next generation of wave-makers. Each of these individuals is on a mission to restore our seaweed resources and maintain an abundant harvest for our future, through sustainable harvesting, the innovative world of aquaculture and the expansive scope of education.

In addition to a variety of talks that will be given throughout the day, there will be a special panel discussion entitled "Maine Seaweed: past, present & future."  The panel will have the following participants:

    Hello Seaweed Lovers!
I'm excited for this festival of learning and fun and seeing you there.
Several friends from the winter Kittery Perm Design Course are heading to my home (1/2 mile away) for a permie potluck afterwards. I'd like to invite all of you.
