Welcome to Maine's first day-long celebration of seaweed. The Festival will run from 11 am until 5 pm. We are happy to announce that the first Maine Seaweed Festival will be a FREE event.

One of the intentions of Seaweed Fest is to create awareness of who the Maine Seaweed Industry is and what it is doing to grow and protect our precious Marine resources. This includes job creation in our fisheries and beyond. During the event you will have the rare opportunity to hear from a variety of representatives from our local Seaweed industry. Meet the elders who have paved the path for our Fisheries’ future. Meet the next generation of wave-makers. Each of these individuals is on a mission to restore our seaweed resources and maintain an abundant harvest for our future, through sustainable harvesting, the innovative world of aquaculture and the expansive scope of education.
In addition to a variety of talks that will be given throughout the day, there will be a special panel discussion entitled "Maine Seaweed: past, present & future." The panel will have the following participants:

Seaweed Fest will offer several immersions into the wild world of seaweed through interactive workshops and activities that will inspire you to think outside the sushi roll and explore seaweed through a variety of sensory experiences and educational presentations. We also have a cast of creative creatures who have offered to share their talents to support our local seaweed movement. Fun for all ages!
