Want to be more tree-literate? Join Chris Knapp from Koviashuvik Local Living School in Temple Maine for this evening walk around Portland. We will work on observation and identification skills and get to know the “cast of tree characters” in our city. As part of our ramble and to deepen our relationship with the trees we will gather twigs from some of the common edible trees and bring them back to the Hub to make a pot of tea. While the tea steeps we will review the lessons of our walk.

This 2015 monthly class series (3rd Thursday of every month) has been designed by Chris and Ashirah at Koviashuvik Local Living School (http://www.koviashuvik.com/index.html)for us here at The Resilience Hub in Portland to excite and empower local folk to make and create, to capture the gifts of the earth and transform them into human life.

This is not a potluck supper event, but feel free to bring snacks to share if you like (especially as this is a 2-hour class). Coffee/tea/beverages will be provided. Please watch the meetup calendar as the rest of this series gets posted for registration.

More about Koviashuvik Local Living School:

Founded in 2008, Koviashuvik (http://www.koviashuvik.com/) is a small school that teaches practical and inexpensive ways for people to live with and use their local land. Through a blend of traditional folk arts, wilderness travel, organic gardening, sustainable technologies, primitive skills and permaculture, Koviashuvik hopes to connect people to the land, each other, and to the joys of providing for oneself right from the earth. Classes range from one-hour long off-site workshops, to residential weekend programs, to extended apprenticeships. We work with school groups, families, and individuals of all ages.
