Zukie,

I have worm binful, but not nearly 1,000.

I started with only a handful that were given to me. Believe me, they will multiply! If you can use a few, I'll give some to you.

Frec Horch Sustainable Goods on Maine Street sells red worms by the pint (in Chinese take out boxes). Ted is right, you only need a handful and they quickly multiply if the conditions are optimal. My homemade worm box is kept under the kitchen sink, and was the first thing I built the very week I moved into my home. I just recentl emptied the entire thing into a garden bed ( except for a handful of the worms which I kept to start the process all over).

Pilar,
If I'm not mistaken, red worms don't survive outside in the winter here.
