Well, definitely DON'T use your vacuum cleaner! Mercury disposal is certainly something to consider, but breaking a CFL does in fact cause the ambient level of mercury vapor in the break location itself to rise pretty high. What that means for human health specifically, I'm not sure. But something to be aware of.­
