What do you hope to get out of this group?

I hope to build a community of like minded and supportive people. I feel that no man (or woman) is an island, and our collective mental health increases when we face the world together!

What is your vision for a successful psychology/self improvement oriented group?

People discussing things that are important to them. People (as openly as they feel comfortable) discussing problems in their lives. Discussion about how to support the person, about similar issues we have in our own lives, and about different ways we can look at the issue so that we can overcome it - together, and without judging. Empowerment, meaningful discussion and community in one.

What do you like to do for fun?

I like to read a lot of articles and books on health issues, especially mental health. I write a blog occasionally, and enjoy seeing my friends and living in the beautiful state of Maine. I have a new-found appreciation for Maine after moving around the country for 3 years - now the only thing left is getting to know more of the people in it.

Hi! My name is Kate. I'm in my late 20s, a freelance writer who lives in Yarmouth. I enjoy intelligent discussions, meeting new people, reading and writing.

What Kate is saying about this Meetup Group

Thank you for the reviews so far. I think we all know the location of the first meetup was too noisy and impersonal, but I really liked the people who came. I think it will be a great group of people. So I will look into other locations and submit some for your feedback as soon as I am able, hopefully in the next week or so. Thanks for your feedback.
