Make:SF March 8 @ TechShop SoMa

Hello Makers,

This month we got a great meeting for you. First Eric Maundu and Rik Kretzinger will talk about the aquaponics projects they are working on. Come hear about how they have built their systems, what sensors they are using, and how Arduino is controlling it all. For some general background on aquaponics go here

Then learn beginner Soft Circuitry in our miniproject. For those of you new to Soft Circuits check some examples from our friends at Instructables. For the miniproject itself there is a choice between a simple bracelet (suitable for beginner tailors) or an embroidered design (for finishing at home). The materials for bracelet is $7 and the embroidery is $10.

Finally, if you are working on a project and want to show it off or get help bring it in. We want to see the cool stuff you are doing :)

Also, be sure to check out our the new Arduino UNO which we have to $30.

This fun-for-all-ages event starts at 6:30pm. Children under 14 need to be accompanied by an adult.

New to Make:SF? Here is what you can do:

- New to making? Come and explore with a fun mini-project.

- Have an idea? Come and we will help you get started making it.

- Making something? Come and demo it. Get feedback and network with the Makers.

- Come to see the speakers we bring in talk about their projects, tools you can use, etc.

Thanks for joining our group! Keep us going strong by chipping in! Pay your Jan-Jun 2011 dues online today! You can also pay cash or credit card in person at the meeting.

See you soon!!

Happen to record this? Are there any local larger scale haquaponic setups around here?

I really enjoyed learning about aquaponics and was so glad I had a chance to take a tour of TechShop. Thanks. The whole thing was awesome.

Yes, we will have tins for MintyBoost kits. (They are blank white tins, but otherwise the same dimensions.)

This Meetup is at Tech Shop in SoMa San Francisco. The other is at Tech Liminal in Oakland.

When I attended last time parking was available in the TechShop lot for $10, which I believe is typical for the area unless you look for street parking.

Better to take public transportation if possible... they are close to Powell St BART station.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
