Hello Makers,

We want to see the cool stuff you all are doing! So email us if you have something you want to show off and we will arrange a demo.

This month we will do the same project the SF and Oak groups did last month - chocolate molding! We have gotten a hold of some food safe Silicone Plastique from Make Your Own Molds (http://www.makeyourownmolds.com/silicone-plastique).

It is a really cool silicone putty that is super easy to work with, food safe, and there is basically no mess. Then while we are waiting for the silicon to set we will make some molds using brown sugar. (http://daringbakerduluth.blogspot.com/2012/08/brown-sugar-casted-chocolates.html) This is a super simple method for making molds quickly.

The workshop will be $10 and we will have the silicone, brown sugar, and chocolate. You will need to bring:

  • A small (~1inx1inx1in) thing to mold with the silicon. Coins, legos, medallions, etc are the right sort of size. It can even have small undercuts because the silicone is flexible.

  • A another thing to mold with brown sugar. This can be bigger than the silicone one but the mold is more coarse so do not choose something with fine detail or undercuts.

Both of these molds will only capture half of the item so remember that when choosing.

  • You can bring your own filling but please bring your own bowl to melt it in. It must be oven safe to make sure it will not crack when we heat it. ---

A fun-for-all-ages event. Children under 14 need to be accompanied by an adult.

See you soon!
