Birds foot trefoil also known as "eggs and bacon" due to the red tint on the underside of the flowers and the yellow colour suggestive of eggs. Whilst not edible to humans the plant is an important food plant for the caterpillars of the common blue butterfly and is a great source of nectar for bees when in flower.
