Come along to Cornerhouse on Saturday 6th for a movie and a social...
This film is on the smallest screen and may sell out, so we'd advise you to pre-book your ticket:[click here]
The Act of Killing - in an astounding and disturbing film, Joshua Oppenheimer revisits the violent Indonesian military coup of 1965. With him on this journey are some of the participants who were responsible for the killing of over one million alleged communists. Together they dramatise those events, choosing a cinematic style for each recreation. The process brings the perpetrators, perhaps for the first time, face to face with the truth of their past.
When to meet...
Meet at 2.50 - Mark ([masked]) is hosting, remember to take his number in case you can't find the group!
Where to meet...
Meet near the downstairs bar at Cornerhouse → [click here] for a picture of the meeting point.
And you'll get a 10% discount if you mention you're with the group when buying your ticket!
Plus a Social @ Knott Bar from 6.00! Following the film we'll be having a social at Knott Bar on Deansgate, a few minutes from the cinema and just across the road from Deansgate Station (M3 4LY). We usually reserve some tables at the back of the ground floor so why not pop along?
Whether you're coming for the film, the social or both, just RSVP yes so we know approximate numbers. Thanks ;-)
New Member? Everybody is welcome and there are new members every week so please do come along!
Any questions, just email us :-) Hope to see you there!
We're a film meetup, aiming to meet weekly, watching either the latest independent releases at the Cornerhouse (where we get a 10% discount), or the biggest blockbusters at the AMC.
We usually go to a Saturday afternoon matinee (sometimes offering a choice of of films). We get around 20 people at each meetup, and there are ALWAYS new members, so it's very easy to fit in - because of the informal nature of the group we are all very friendly.
After the film we have a Saturday night social at Knott Bar, not far from either of our venues. We always choose somewhere you can talk, eat, drink, and generally have a great night.
If you have any questions please email the organisers.
