Cinema Paradiso @ Cornerhouse

Join us at Cornerhouse on Monday 16th for a mid-week meetup...

Cinema Paradiso

Giuseppe Tornatore’s loving homage to the cinema. Salvatore, a successful film director, returns home for the funeral of Alfredo, who was the projectionist at his local cinema throughout his childhood. Soon memories of his first love affair and the high and lows that shaped his life come flooding back, as Salvatore reconnects with the community he left 30 years earlier. Cinema Paradiso has won awards around the world, including Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, 5 BAFTAs and the Grand Prize of the Jury at the Cannes Film Festival.

• When to meet...

Meet around 7.50pm (the film starts at 8.10pm but it might be worth getting there in good time). Matthew [masked]) is hosting. Take his number with you in case you can't find the group!

• Where to meet...

Meet near the downstairs bar at Cornerhouse → [click here] for a picture of the meeting point.

** Note: as this isn't our regular Saturday meetup, there won't be a discount on tickets. **

Amazing film - but now I hear there's a Directors cut - maybe need to see that too!

The director's cut was on Sky Arts a while back. Just under three hours. Not sure of the running time of the Cornerhouse screening. A European classic indeed. One of a meagre handful of non-English language films (Das Boot, Jean de Florette/Manon des Sources, Amelie) to cross into the mainstream somewhat.
