Carancho & The Kid with a Bike @ Cornerhouse + Social @ Odder Bar

Join us at Cornerhouse on Saturday 31st for a choice of new movies and a Saturday night social...

Carancho - In this dark thriller from Argentina, Sosa is a lawyer who works in a murky trade of accident insurance claims. When he meets a young doctor his relationship with her begins to change his outlook and sets him at odds with the corrupt world in which he exists. In Spanish with English subtitles.

The Kid with a Bike - Abandoned by his father, 11-year-old Cyril is left in the care of a children's home. When Samantha, the local hairdresser, takes pity on the boy, the friendship becomes important for both of them as she tries to help him find a new life. Runner-up at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, in French with English subtitles.

Meet at 3.50 for Carancho. Mark [masked]) is hosting this.

Meet at 4.00 for The Kid with a Bike. Paul [masked]) will be there to host this one.

Take the host's contact number for the film you're seeing in case you can't find the group. We meet near the downstairs bar at Cornerhouse  - click here for a picture of the meeting point.

And you'll get a 10% discount if you mention you're with the group when buying your ticket!

Plus a Social at Odder Bar from 6.30! We'll be following the films with a social at Odder, one of our favourite bars, just 2 minutes down Oxford Road opposite the old BBC. This week we have tables booked downstairs.

Please RSVP yes even if you're just coming to the social as it helps if we know approximate numbers. Thanks ;-)

New Member? Everybody is welcome and there are new members every week so please do come along!

Any questions, just email us :-) Hope to see you there!

The kid with a bike was very well done and the young protagonist gave a powerful emotional performance. You really felt his pain and anger at his situation.

An assured, engaging performance by the young lead and - for the mostpart - the subtle, realist treatment of the story (The Kid with a Bike) make for a heartwarming ninety minutes echoing De Sica's Bicycle Thieves and early Truffaut.
