A casual meetup with light food and drinks (pre-arranged by organizers) on a breezy afternoon at the Queen Elizabeth Park north picnic area, where Chinese speakers can get together and socialize. Why stay indoors when we can go outside for some fresh air?
This meetup will be similar to the Wednesday night Vancouver/Richmond mall meetup or the Sunday afternoon Metrotown cafe meetup, in the style of a language exchange get-together for Chinese speakers of all levels. Since this will be outdoors, you're welcome to bring friends, family members, or animals along. We'll be in the picnic area tables under some tree shade. Feel free to bring some games along to play on the open grass field (frisbee, badminton, soccer ball).
Location & How to find us:
If you are coming by Skytrain or bus, get off at the King Edward station at King Edward/Cambie. Walk south to W 29th Ave. Then walk east along 29th Ave for 1 minute until you see a small pond with dense trees/bushes nearby. We will be at the picnic tables on the south side of the pond.
If you are driving, park your car on W 29th Ave or on the small road inside QE Park (see map). You should see the picnic tables on the north side of the small road.
We will provide drinks, sandwiches, salad, and fruits. We are charging attendees $10 to cover costs. If you would like to bring something special to share, please feel free to bring it and leave a comment below. Please pay John when you see him anytime in coming weeks.
Leave a comment below if you would like to bring some equipments for extra activities. Sport equipments (badminton, soccer, football, frisbee, lawn bowling), board games, books, music player... everything is welcomed.
Extra things to bring:
Seating is very limited. Please bring some lawn chairs, large mats/towels.
John's recommendation for visitors/new-immigrants/tourists:
Feel free to explore the Queen Elizabeth park! There are beautiful gardens, ponds, and attractions in the summer time. There are also a full 18-hole pitch & putt course, tennis courts, basketball courts, and roller blade rink on the south side. Take an adventure through the park in the afternoon, and then meet us up for picnic at 4:00pm.
