Sunday Afternoon Meetup, Burnaby (Time change)

  • Feb 3, 2013 · 1:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

The meeting itself involves casual conversation with other members who are sitting near you. It's a great opportunity to try out what you have recently learned or ask about some vocabulary items. All skill levels are welcome. Respectfully, I would ask people attending to purchase a drink or snack in consideration of the business establishment where we meet. See you there!

From "Will China Learn to Love the Superbowl, American Football?":

"Despite its 7:30 a.m. kickoff Monday morning China time, some 25 million Chinese will watch the Super Bowl, said Richard Young, managing director of NFL China. Young cites CSM Media Research showing there are 3 million "avid" fans in the country."

"..some 25 million Chinese will watch the Super Bowl.." - putting it the other way around, 98% (1,344,130,000) of Chinese population still have no clue what the fuss is about. :)

    1pm doesn't work for me.

Hard to believe those who learn Mandarin would care so much about Superbowl Sunday. These things are rather opposite to each other, no? If not this post I would have never heard about it. Moving meeting to 1pm makes it rather awkward to attend, the event breaks the day in half. I hope I can make it :)

Due to unpopular demand for this Superbowl Sunday, I am considering cancelling this event or move it up to 1PM. Any objections from any of you?
