Camping in the Fall

Jonathan Dickinson State Park Campsite #70

MAD is once again going to piss off nature and be it's bi**h." -Melida

Join us for our third annual camping adventure. I'll again bring the portable jacuzzi, a projector for outdoor anime, big logs to burn, and with enough interest we can rent a motorboat again.

The campground has power, water, fire pit, restrooms, picnic tables, and showers, just bring (at a minimum) a tent, food, sleeping bag, and maybe inflatable sleeping pad/mattress. If we get tired of watching anime and eating/drinking round a campfire, the park has activities like biking and canoeing.

New members reminder: In general, this event involves a level of self-reliance a step above our group picnics. Everyone should be somewhat self-sufficient, for example the only complimentary meal will be the Saturday group dinner.

Details and who's bringing what to be worked out closer to the date.

Another nice relaxing weekend in the fierce untamed wilds of south florida. We had plenty of infrastructure and amenities thanks to everyone who brought crap. The fire was nice, the projector worked and thanks to Julie we watched streaming anime from netflix. Jen made shish kabobs and eggnog french toast. Unfortunately the hot tub suffered a plumbing problem and had to sit out the weekend. We went on a guided boat tour of the loxahatchee river including a tour of Trapper Nelson's former house and animal theme park. It was all the more enjoyable due to the tour guide's dismay at having to take a group of 5 would-be buccaneers out in the rain just before closing time. Julie looked the part with a new riverboat outfit. So we enjoyed fruity cocktails under our awning for an hour as we cruised the river, while he constantly speculated about all the reasons we might have to turn back early :) Afterwards Bobbi went mountain biking and we finished the weekend at a local BBQ restaurant.

Getting close now! i have plenty of firewood already but i didn't go quite so crazy as last year's monster log. i'm not going to worry about food beforehand, figure we can all run out to publix after getting set up. if anyone gets there before me they can go right to the campsite.
