We may all have recently celebrated the New Year, but we haven't celebrated *Chinese* New Year yet. That's Sunday Feb 14 this year (coincidentally also Valentine's day). I'm planning an outing to a new Lower East Side restaurant that just opened called Baohaus offering an innovative take on Taiwanese street food:
For Chinese New Year they're offering an eight course tasting menu including beer braised Sichuan pepper and fennel beef dumplings, fried fresh "tofu bricks from Chinatown's tofu guy", Eddie the chef's "dumb good Taiwanese sausage fried rice", and other amazing sounding dishes.
Come join us! The price will be $38 per guest plus tip. It's BYOB with no corking fee, so we can bring champagne. We're heading over to Mudville 9 afterward to watch the Olympics on TV. See here for details on that part:
RSVPs open until Saturday noon. Have a great weekend and Happy Chinese New Year!
