The Brooklyn Maple Leaf Cocktail Hour Chinese New Year Meetup

Hi everyone!
We may all have recently celebrated the New Year, but we haven't celebrated *Chinese* New Year yet. That's Sunday Feb 14 this year (coincidentally also Valentine's day). I'm planning an outing to a new Lower East Side restaurant that just opened called Baohaus offering an innovative take on Taiwanese street food:

For Chinese New Year they're offering an eight course tasting menu including beer braised Sichuan pepper and fennel beef dumplings, fried fresh "tofu bricks from Chinatown's tofu guy", Eddie the chef's "dumb good Taiwanese sausage fried rice", and other amazing sounding dishes.

Come join us! The price will be $38 per guest plus tip. It's BYOB with no corking fee, so we can bring champagne. We're heading over to Mudville 9 afterward to watch the Olympics on TV. See here for details on that part:

RSVPs open until Saturday noon. Have a great weekend and Happy Chinese New Year!

It was my first time meeting with this group, or any Meetup group. Joe and his wife Kim were wonderful hosts. They even brought Champagne. Everyone was friendly and bright, nice people to meet, and, I hope, to see again.
Joe had to do some quick figuring out due to a mixup in the times, but everyone who was expected did show up.
The place was nice (Baohaus on Rivington St.) and the food was delicious.
Made me wish I was Canadian! But Joe made it plain, even in an introductory e-mail, that non-Canadians are welcome.

Really nice to get the personal attention from the staff at the restaurant. Loved the food. And the Olympics at Mudville was a fun way to cap off the evening.
