Telling stories with open data and maps

Hosted at Land Registry HQ in Croydon, our first ever meetup is all about finding meaning in raw data, and illustrating it using web maps.

Our guest speakers will put open data into a geospatial perspective, showing its applicability in various fields: from data-driven journalism to analysing the evolution of the property market.

Though the presentations will be anything but dry, we are sure that the CartoDBeers networking session accompanying the event will be more than welcome.

Overview:

18:00 - 18:30 Welcome tea

18:30 - 19:20 Presentations

19:20 - 19:40 Break

19:40 - 20:30 Presentations

20:30 CartoDBeers

This meetup managed to have a good balance of technical/analyst people among attendants and it was exciting to talk to all of them. Waiting for the next event!

Following on from last night session I've already excited a number of people here at IdeaLondon about the applications Cartodb have built and the ease at which they seem to integrate. .

It is, really, a mapping platform for the future. What is really amazing about it is that it's entirely built on Open Source. Postgres, PostGIS, Mapnik, GDAL... and so many others

Thanks. A well organised event with interesting content. Pleased to have attended. Thanks to speakers, hosts and organisers. Given everyone appears to need to get out more I'm sure we'll see more events.
