Sgt. Gerald Takano will discuss the legalities of self-defense in North Carolina. Martial art practitioners sometimes only think of their physical training, but not what will happen in court should they have to prove it was self-defense. This is not always so easy and cut-and dry, and is sometimes a gut-wrenching and agonizing legal experience that can bankrupt you.
Sgt. Gerald Takano has over 22 years of law enforcement, and holds a 3rd degree black belt in Kung Fu San Soo. He also has an excess of 30 years instructing martial arts, and works as a use of force specialist. Having certifications in firearms, holds and escapes, edged weapons and weapon retention, physical fitness, and subject control, Sgt. Takano instructs a department of roughly 800 sworn police officers. He has earned a BA in psychology from NC State. Sgt. Takano is also proud to have served in the U.S. military.
Learn ways to protect yourself, not only physically, but also from our legal system. Sgt. Takano will discuss what every martial artist should be made aware of, then will open the floor for questions.
